TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 26, 2019 — VMware’s (Nasdaq: VMW) Bill Rowan, vice president of federal sales at the company’s public sector division, believes agencies that aim for employee mobility can benefit from utilizing information technology and associated security policies, GovCon Wire reported July 17.

Rowan, a three-time Wash100 awardee, wrote July 16 in a GCN guest article that government institutions will be able to compete with private companies in recruiting younger people by procuring enterprise mobility management systems so that employees have the ability to access office-related software and applications on personal devices.

He also noted that management information systems will enable agencies to make smarter decisions regarding software purchases and resource management, as well as ensure compliance to policies. Meanwhile, federated identity management systems will work to improve security by providing each employee a single digital identity to use across the different applications they access in the course of their work.

"As agencies shift to innovative, cloud-based platforms, they will be able to migrate from legacy solutions at scale to deliver flexible, personalized mobility to the workforce," wrote Rowan.

"In doing so, they will be able to attract and retain younger talent while meeting the needs of increased security and management of critical data.”
