The Air Force Association has recognized the Northrop Grumman-operated system Battlefield Airborne Communications Node for providing missions with communications support.
AFA honored BACN with the Innovative Solution Enabling Airmen and their Worldwide Mission award during the association’s Air Warfare Symposium that took place in March in Florida, Northrop said Monday.
Northrop developed, operates and maintains BACN to provide situational awareness for the U.S. Air Force. The airborne system works to transmit video and other forms of information across USAF networks, pilots and commanders.
BACN’s designated fleet consists of four E-11A manned aircraft and four EQ-4B Global Hawk unmanned aircraft systems.
AFA additionally awarded Northrop a presentation fellowship in acknowledgement of BACN.
