Neustar has received a contract to continue helping the Department of Commerce operate the U.S. government’s internet top-level domain through 2029.
The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration awarded the 10-year contract, Neustar said Wednesday.
On the internet, the .US domain serves as the country’s official country code. Neustar has been in charge of the domain’s operation since 2001.
“We will also continue to work closely with government and law enforcement agencies to combat domain abuse, such as phishing and the sale of illegal opioids online,†said Nicolai Bezsonoff, senior vice president and general manager of Neustar’s registry solutions division.
Neustar also provides registry support for Colombia’s .CO domain and New York City’s .NYC domain.
