The Maryland Department of Human Services has used Amazon Web Services' cloud computing technology to build a technology platform for state agencies to process social service applications.
Maryland DHS, together with Deloitte's consulting arm, created the AWS-based Maryland Total Human Information Network within a six-month period, AWS said Tuesday.
The system is designed to comply with Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program requirements and help case workers access data on citizens who receive support through government assistance programs.
“We foresee savings on operations and maintenance costs, because each agency no longer has to build and manage software on their own,†said Subi Muniasamy, chief technology officer for MD DHS.
The department rolled out the system within nine months of securing an authority to operate designation.
