IBM has secured a potential four-year, $12M contract from the U.S. Navy to research and develop computational frameworks that mimic children’s cognitive functions.
The Department of Defense said Thursday computational models will include machines with the common sense of an 18-month-old child.
Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific received 42 proposals through a broad agency announcement and selected nine recipients for the cost-type contract. The service will obligate the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's R&D, test and evaluation funds worth $2M at the time of award.
Work will occur through July 17, 2023 in Yorktown, N.Y.
