Huntington Ingalls Industries has chosen 89 new scholarship recipients for 2019-2020 school year through an initiative that seeks to assist selected dependent children of HII employees in the pursuit of collegiate and technical degrees.
The annual HII Scholarship Fund has also renewed 89 previously-awarded scholarships for the same school year, which are part of the over 578 scholarships worth $1.5M that HII has awarded in the past four years, the company said Monday.
From the 89 new recipients, 30 scholarship grants were awarded to chosen students for four-year degrees while 39 were given in early childhood school-readiness programs. The remaining 20 grants were granted for two-year technical degrees. The values of the grants range from $1.5K for two-year programs to $3K for four-year degrees.
The scholarship program is part of HII’s efforts to invest in workforce development and upcoming generations of potential employees through educational initiatives.
