Eric Welling, former deputy assistant director of the cyber division at the FBI, has been named senior security executive at Accenture, CyberScoop reported Friday.
The report said Welling will manage the company’s North America Incident Response Command Center, which analyzes cyber threats and provides security support to customers.
He started his career at the bureau in November 1995 as a special agent focused on criminal and national security investigations and later elevated to the positions of supervisory special agent; assistant special agent in charge of national security and crisis response; and supervisory inspector.
In his more recent role, he led the formation and establishment of teams responsible for assessing performance, compliance and leadership functions. Welling served as a special agent at the U.S. Secret Service and an officer at the police department of Bath Township, Ohio, earlier in his career.
“It was a tremendous privilege to work alongside my colleagues at the FBI and I now look forward to working with Accenture Security and its clients to help secure their businesses from even the most advanced cyberattacks,” Welling said.
