David Peed, vice president and general manager at Equinix, wrote in a blog post published Wednesday that there are four steps federal agencies can implement to accelerate their data center modernization efforts and the first step is building network hubs and optimizing network infrastructures.
The next step for agencies is to use software-defined, virtual connections to develop hybrid and multicloud platforms. Peed discussed how the company’s Cloud Xchange Fabric platform could help agencies execute the measure and facilitate access to hyperscale cloud platforms.
Following the first two steps, he called on agencies to field distributed security controls and distribute data center infrastructure management monitoring and analytics reporting tools to support power management across multiple data centers.
Peed also discussed the draft Data Center Optimization Initiative memo issued by Federal CIO and 2019 Wash100 recipient Suzette Kent and the key priorities included in the document, such as advancing automation and optimizing “general compute†data centers.
