The Defense Threat Reduction Agency seeks sources on augmented and virtual reality technologies for use in nuclear warfare training.
DTRA said Tuesday in a FedBizOpps notice it intends to train defense forces in battlefield nuclear warfare and radiological threat search operations via existing AR and VR applications. The agency seeks to train troops in realistic simulation environments.
Sought training will cover all levels of battlefield scenarios including large force operations and individual movement. The agency also considers using AR and VR for planning and equipment testing.
Interested firms may submit five-page papers as responses through Aug. 12.
Microsoft is working to develop AR training technology for the U.S. Army under a potential $479.1M agreement.
