The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency selected more international and multidisciplinary teams which will compete for $500K in prizes by modifying DARPA robots models and sensors for the “virtual“ circuit of the agency“™s Subterranean Challenge.

Participants will compete for the prize money by incorporating their algorithm and software codes into DARPA“™s repository of robot models and sensors, which will be tested through a simulated environment in identifying artifacts to gain points, the agency said Tuesday.

DARPA first announced the teams chosen for the SubT Challenge“™s physical and virtual tunnel increments in May and will select additional participants until Aug. 1. The challenge will take place Aug. 15-22.
