Kevin Lopes, a retired U.S. Coast Guard captain, has been named director of maritime operations at Groton, Conn.-based maritime surveillance technology provider ThayerMahan.
He will lead efforts to drive sales growth in the Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Navy markets in his new role, ThayerMahan said Monday.
The more than 27-year USCG veteran will also help grow the company’s energy offerings to the oil and gas sectors in the Gulf of Mexico and New England regions.
Prior to his retirement, Lopes served across roles of increasing responsibility with the Coast Guard including chief financial officer for the Deepwater Horizon Unified Command and navigator aboard the Navy’s USS Cushing destroyer.
He also held instructor roles at the Coast Guard Academy and served as USCG’s management consultant for strategy and process innovation.
