Charles River Analytics has launched a new open-source software development kit designed to help users create augmented and virtual reality programs.
Its Virtuoso Software Development Kit features hand tracking so that users can interact with virtual objects, rapid prototyping that does not require writing code, device interoperability with existing virtual reality systems and a library of virtual environment objects and interactions, the company said Monday.
VSDK also offers tools that developers can use to design, edit and manage VR training scenarios. The kit is free under the Massachusetts Institute of Technology License.
“With VSDK, developers with less experience, training, and time can still quickly design augmented and virtual reality experiences with intuitive and natural interactions with virtual content,†said Michael Jenkins, senior scientist at Charles River Analytics.
