The Customs and Border Protection has issued a request for information on potential commercial partners that could help the agency manage its applications and information technology systems in the cloud, Bloomberg Government reported Wednesday.
The RFI reflects CBP’s latest move in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s enterprise cloud migration strategy.
CBP intends to procure cloud platforms-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings from multiple cloud providers to modernize software development and facilitate data management within the agency.
According to the RFI’s statement of objectives, the move seeks to implement updated microservice web frameworks that utilize application programming interfaces, field software apps and adopt identity and access management controls, among other objectives.
CBP said it intends to create a contract vehicle that would integrate multiple resellers in the public sector and keep up with new technology offerings and cloud migration’s complexities.
CBP will accept responses to the RFI through Aug. 1. It expects to seek proposals by the end of the first quarter of fiscal year 2020 and award the contract by the second quarter of FY 2020, according to the report.
