Boeing plans to move the first uncrewed test flight of its CST-100 Starliner capsule to the International Space Station to September, Click Orlando reported Saturday.
United Launch Alliance’s Atlas V rocket will carry the uncrewed spacecraft from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida ahead of Starliner’s crewed flight test, which may commence in the following months, according to Chris Ferguson, test pilot for Boeing and former NASA astronaut.
After the uncrewed flight test, the Boeing-ULA team will evaluate Starliner’s abort systems to ensure the system’s capacity to safely transport astronauts.
Boeing completed the fifth and final parachute test for Starliner in June.
