Amazon Web Services and the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic have entered into an agreement to further efforts to train military and civilian personnel in cloud computing skills.
Authorized instructors from the NIWC Cyber Education and Certification Readiness Facility will implement an AWS-approved curriculum to refine the skills of Department of Defense participants in preparation for industry certifications as part of the AWS Academy initiative, the U.S. Navy said Tuesday.
AWS Academy enrollees may also access remote learning tools that complement classroom activities throughout a one-year period.
“Cloud computing is a key component of the next generation of IT and is critical to maintaining the military’s technological advantage. It represents significant change – end-to-end,†said Andrew Mansfield, technical director for NIWC Atlantic.
This month, the second AWS Academy program for members of the Marine Corps was held at the U.S. Marine Corps Information Technology Center in Kansas City, Mo.
