TRX Systems has showcased its 3D tracking platform at an emergency response exercise hosted by the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate’s SCITI Labs initiative.

The Greenbelt, Md.-based company said Thursday its NEON Personnel Tracker mapping tool located participants in outdoor, indoor and underground environments during the live training event held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

NEON is designed to handle situational awareness, threat detection, communication and inetroperability functions in GPS-denied locations to help first responders in critical situations.

Julie Zobel, assistant vice president for safety, emergency and enterprise risk management at GMU, said the platform also works to support “all aspects of university operations" such as building maintenance and environmental sustainability.

SCITI Labs is focused on the development of internet-of-things and smart city technology for DHS applications as well as public safety operations.
