Teresa Carlson, vice president of the worldwide public sector business at Amazon Web Services and a 2019 Wash100 winner, has said the company is encouraged to see ongoing efforts by U.S. defense organizations to adopt cloud computing technology, the Washington Business Journal reported Wednesday.
Carlson told audience during her keynote address at the AWS Public Sector Summit that the company’s ongoing work with the Department of Defense and the intelligence community indicates its ability to meet the requirements for the $10B Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure program.
“AWS, along with our partner community, stands ready to support and serve the most important DoD and intelligence communities’ mission of protecting and serving our country,†she added.
Carlson acknowledged the Department of Defense’s interest in utilizing the cloud, saying the agency now faces no barriers to use the AWS cloud for national security.
“AWS, along with our partner community, stands ready to support and serve the most important DoD and intelligence communities’ mission of protecting and serving our country,†she added.
She also noted the company position as the only cloud vendor supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Impact Level 6 workloads covering secret and top secret-level data.
In April, the Pentagon named AWS and Microsoft as competing bidders for the JEDI contract. The report said DoD could select a winner as early as July 19.
