Raytheon has developed multiple-intelligence sensor technology that merges data from different systems, such as radar and imager sensors, in order to provide more accurate information to service personnel to help them track targets such as intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The multisensor system combines the activities of multi-spectral imagers, active electronically scanned array radars and other platforms to continuously detect signals and monitor targets in real-time, the company said Monday.
“The idea behind Multi-INT is that you take multiple types of intelligence from various sensors and sources and blend them together to get a clearer picture,†said Roy Azevedo, president of space and airborne systems at Raytheon.
Jerry Carter, senior director at Raytheon’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems division, added that the consolidation of Multi-INT operations within a single aircraft optimizes lifecycle costs and other critical operations like staffing and logistics.
Multi-INT is based on machine learning and artificial intelligence technology which help the system integrate input such as electro-optical infrared, signals, electronics intelligence and synthetic aperture radar/ground moving target indicator data.
