Northrop Preps Final Proposal for Army Defense Sensor Program

Northrop Grumman is set to submit its final proposal to the U.S. Army for the production of the service’s new Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor.

The company said Tuesday it completed the demonstration of a system for LTAMDS at a recent open competition at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

“Our mature, gallium nitride (GaN)-based design demonstrated an advanced system with our current capabilities aligned with the Army’s requirements,” said Christine Harbison, vice president of land and avionics at Northrop’s C4ISR division.

In addition to GaN high power density radio frequency components, the company’s LTAMDS system also features embedded logistics capability that will allow for more cost-effective modernization.

Northrop plans to submit its final proposal for the LTAMDS program in the following weeks for assessment.
