Mitre has partnered with nine public universities in Virginia to create an exchange program to help the government address technology requirements in areas such as national security, aviation and cybersecurity.

The nonprofit company said Thursday it seeks to gain access to tools and ideas from the academic sector through the  University Innovation Exchange under a signed master agreement.

Accordingto Mitre, it can also recruit top undergraduate and graduate students from partner universities to work at the organization as interns or full-time employees.

Participants in the innovation exchange are:

  • Christopher Newport University
  • William & Mary
  • George Mason University
  • James Madison University
  • Old Dominion University
  • University of Virginia
  • Virginia Tech
  • Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Virginia State University

The program also involves the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and Virginia Economic Development Partnership.
