Melanie Preisser, previously vice president of government relations at Stratolaunch Systems, has joined York Space Systems as VP of national systems responsible for overseeing public and private sector relationships and commercial space industry growth efforts.
The 26-year aerospace industry will be responsible for helping York Space Systems establish relationships with agencies and overseeing its growth efforts in the commercial space market, the company said Wednesday.
Preisser concurrently served as national systems director during her time at Stratolaunch and spent over four years with the Department of Defense's acquisition office, where she led intelligence and space procurement initiatives worth over $70B.
She worked at the U.S. Air Force from 1993 to 2007 in various roles such as chief of enterprise engineering and chief of flight safety operations.
Preisser earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from University of California at Los Angeles. She also holds a master's degree in systems engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from Chapman University.
