Robert Lightfoot, vice president of strategy and business development at Lockheed Martin‘s space unit, has been appointed to serve as chairman of the Alabama Space Grant Consortium’s Industrial Advisory Board.
The 12-member IAB will function to advise ASGC on potential programs and relevance with industry, Dale Thomas, ASGC director said in a statement posted Thursday.
Lightfoot joined Lockheed in early May and oversees strategic planning efforts for space technology program including satellites and exploration robotic systems. He previously held various leadership positions at NASA.
IAB members include:
- Charles Scales, director of business development at Sierra Lobo
- Daniel Schumacher, deputy and senior manager of AMCOM Express at Torch Technologies
- David Trent, mobile engineering center site director at Airbus Americas
- Kenneth Sartor, associate professor at Alabama A&M University
- Joey Shelton, senior vice president of defense systems at TriVector Services
- Kim Doering, vice president of space systems at Dynetics
- Mark Becnel, president at RadioBro
- Miranda Bouldin, president and CEO at LogiCore
- Raymond Thompson, CEO at Vista Engineering
- Steve Cash, vice president of advanced space systems division at QuantiTech
- Todd May, senior vice president of space and mission solutions at KBR
The chair and ASGC member universities nominated the 11 members, six of whom will serve two-year terms during the board’s initial run. Members can serve for a term of up four years after the startup period.
University of Alabama, Alabama A&M University, Auburn University, Tuskegee University, University of Alabama at Birmingham are among the academic institutions that support the consortium.
