Lockheed Martin has released the newest iteration of the company’s training tool, a visualization platform, that was designed for maintainers of Apache helicopter sensors.
The company said Tuesday its RELY3D tool integrates commercial gaming technology into training to reduce up to 60 percent of instruction time.
The tool’s interface on the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight and Pilotage Night Vision Sensor and Longbow Fire Control Radar allow maintainers to visualize 3D models via laptops and tablets.
M-TADS/PNVS is designed to help pilots perform long-range engagements with situational awareness for both day and night conditions. The U.S. Army and customers from 15 foreign nations employ Lockheed-made M-TADS/PNVS systems.
The Longbow FCR is designed to detect and track moving or stationary targets within a range of about 10 miles. A joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman developed this technology.
Maintainers may also use RELY3D to train for sensors and weapon systems of fixed-wing aircraft and other helicopters.
