Kratos Defense and Security Solutions achieved its test objectives for the XQ-58A Valkyrie, an unmanned aerial vessel, during its second flight test on June 11.

Designed to carry out long-range flights at subsonic speeds, the Valkyrie flew for one hour and eleven minutes during a flight demonstration at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona, the company said Monday.

The demonstration followed an initial flight test in March which assessed the aircraft's aerodynamic performance, launch and recovery systems.

“With this most recent milestone, the readiness of the XQ-58A is accelerating and increasing the near-term application opportunities for the system,” said Steve Fendley, president of Kratos’ unmanned systems division.

The Valkyrie was jointly developed by Kratos and Air Force Research Laboratory through the Low Cost Attritable Strike Demonstrator efforts.
