Lockheed Martin has selected Cubic’s mission solutions business to deliver video data link systems for F-35 Lightning II aircraft units to optimize the aircraft’s combat capacity.
Thee software-defined platform offers live-video functionality and will allow F-35 units to send and receive sensor information and metadata from airborne and ground units, Cubic said Tuesday.
In addition, the VDL system has also been developed to work with communication, navigation and identification subsystems, and is intended to support modernization efforts for the F-35.
“Our team of protected communications experts have decades of experience supplying common data link systems and we look forward to partnering on this critical program,†said Mike Twyman, president at Cubic’s mission solutions business.
