The U.S. Air Force has posted a request for information to seek statements of capability that can outline conceptual and practical guidelines on how the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center can meet future time and speed requirements for space launches.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Thursday says the military service looks to explore the accelerated deployment of security payloads to space within 24 hours in a move to increase situational awareness and enhance spacecraft defense.

The Air Force plans to hold an event, Rapid Space Launch Industry Day, to obtain more information. In the future, it will award contracts for studies, demonstrations and operational capability.

Interested firms may submit their responses to the notice until July 15.
