AECOM and Japanese conglomerate Toshiba have agreed to jointly provide nuclear decommissioning services to Japan-based government agencies and utility companies.
Both companies aim to help public and private sector customers decommission nuclear facilities or reactors under an alliance agreement, AECOM said Monday.
John Vollmer, president of AECOM’s management services segment, said the partnership will help increase the firm's expertise in the nuclear decontamination and decommissioning space.
Vollmer added the company supports ongoing efforts at some U.S. Department of Energy facilities and recently secured a potential $400M contract to deactivate the Dounreay nuclear site in Scotland.
AECOM has provided waste management, systems engineering, technical assistance and construction support to domestic and international customers over the past three decades.
