Security experts with public and private sector experience will assist Virginia Tech in a new fellows program aimed to promote innovation across the security community.
Member executives will work with the university’s Hume Center for National Security and Technology to launch tech events, hold discussions on security and expand the university’s presence, Virginia Tech said Wednesday.
They will also support mentorship programs for Hume Center students.
The members officials are:

Chris Marzilli, executive vice president of General Dynamics focused on information technology and mission systems

John Saad, partner and national security sector leader at Guidehouse

Luke McCormack, former CIO for the Department of Homeland Security

Paul Girardi, vice president for cybersecurity at AT&T’s Government Solutions unit

Retired Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger, former administrator of the Transportation Security Administration and former vice commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard

“Virginia Tech is honored to have such a distinguished cadre of executives join the inaugural cohort of our security fellows program,†said Eric Paterson, interim executive director of Hume Center. “Each brings a unique set of experiences, perspectives and relationships that can help amplify the university’s presence and impact on critical issues.â€
The officials will serve as members of the Virginia Tech cohort through December 2020.
