National Cancer Institute is using Druva's cloud platform to modernize the agency's data backup, restoration and archiving activities.

The company said Monday its patented deduplication process helps NCI perform backups with reduced costs in time and bandwidth.

The agency oversees centers, programs and data banks on cancer research, and required a streamlined method to backup and secure the corresponding mass of information.

“We had to become a more automated, nimble and agile organization, and cloud backup was technology we wanted to evaluate," said Jeff Shilling, acting chief information officer at NCI.

Druva's cloud-based data management technology complies with requirements under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program. The automated platform also builds on Amazon Web Services.
