Mitre plans to introduce a new artificial intelligence platform to students of the University of Texas at San Antonio and other local elementary schools under a new partnership with the National Security Collaboration Center.Â

Julie Gravallese, vice president for programs and technology integration at Mitre, served as the nonprofit’s signing official for the partnership with UTSA’s National Security Collaboration Center, the university said Monday.

Both parties agreed to conduct studies and implement workforce development initiatives. The company will launch one of its five pilot programs at UTSA to introduce students to the Generation AI platform and help them explore applications of the technology along with data analytics to utilize large datasets even with limited computer science skills.

The university added its Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security will work with Mitre, the CyberTexas Foundation and Northside Independent School District to implement a pilot afterschool program for San Antonio elementary-school students.

The program aims to teach basic cybersecurity with the CIAS-developed Cyber Threat Defender game.
