The Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration has selected Tote Services to manage the construction of a new national security training ship under a $39.1M contract.
The company will choose a shipyard and apply industry best practices for the delivery of the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel, MARAD said Tuesday.
NSMV is designed to serve as a training platform for state maritime academies, and provide up to 600 trainees with instructional spaces and a practice bridge.
The ship would also be geared to support the government's disaster response missions.
Tote aims to deliver the ship by fall of 2022.
