Mapbox and Spatial Networks have partnered to develop a location-based information technology to aid field users in military planning, humanitarian and disaster response missions.

Anthony Calamito, director of government programs at Mapbox, wrote in a blog entry posted Monday the partnership seeks to integrate the Fulcrum mobile data-gathering application with the Mapbox Atlas platform to help government and commercial organizations collect information in the field.

Atlas is designed to support mapping, routing and geocoding tasks and deployable on-premise or in a hybrid IT environment.

Calamito said that integrating an Atlas kit with the Fulcrum application would help first responders, aid organizations, and insurance companies to accelerate disaster recovery efforts with the use of data.

Fulcrum was used in relief missions following hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. The app also helped Red Cross evaluate damages caused by tornado in Illinois and wildfires in Santa Barbara, Calif.
