ManTech International has launched a portable technology platform designed to allow tactical warfighters to process and analyze intelligence data in real time, C4ISRNET reported Monday.
The company’s Secure Tactical Edge Platform is a “cloud-in-a-box†system that works to accelerate the decision-making process for service personnel through real-time data collection and analysis.
Srini Iyer, chief technology officer of mission solutions and services group at ManTech, said deployed forces should have a capability that can process data in real time.
“My rough rule of thumb is if you can get to act on 95 percent of the data you receive, that’s a huge win,†he said.
The launch of the ManTech platform comes as the Department of Defense explores the use of “fog computing,†an information technology architecture that allows commanders to transmit essential data to the cloud as they operate in environments where bandwidth is limited.
Cindy DeCarlo, director of U.S. federal business development at Cisco, said fog computing is ideal to use in demanding situations and scenarios where users face communication challenges.
