A General Dynamics business has secured a spot on a potential five-year, $49M multiple award contract to provide artificial intelligence technology to the Department of Health and Human Services.

General Dynamics Information Technology will compete for task orders under the HHS Program Support Center program that supports the agency’s modernization efforts, the company said Thursday.

“We are excited to join HHS in their journey to a more efficient future,” said Kamal Narang, vice president and head of GDIT’s health sector.

“GDIT will utilize our expertise in AI, blockchain and other next-generation technologies to help transform HHS’ business processes and enhance their mission delivery.”

Work under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will involve conducting trials and implementing machine learning, natural language processing and artificial intelligence technology.

HHS aims to use AI and other new tools to reduce backlog and costs and to predict fraudulent transactions and irregularities.
