Chuck Brooks, principal market growth strategist for cybersecurity and emerging technologies at General Dynamics‘ mission systems business, has said the federal government should form a comprehensive and adaptive partnership with industry to address cyber threats to critical U.S. infrastructure.
Brooks wrote in a Forbes guest piece published Monday the use of connected devices, sensors and integrated hardware and software put numerous sectors across the U.S. at risk of a cyber attack.
“Critical infrastructure is the core of our nations’ prosperity and well-being and addressing the threats to it requires incorporating a robust calculated security strategy of public and private sector partnering,†he noted.
He urged agencies and companies to establish a “strong working partnership†that involves coordinated information exchange, planning, investment in emerging technologies and allocation of resources to protect critical assets.
A survey by Tenable found that nine in 10 infrastructure providers in the U.S. experienced cyber attacks in the last two years that were destructive to their systems.
