Forcepoint’s George Kamis: Behavioral Analysis Could Help Secure Defense Industrial Base

George Kamis, chief technology officer for global governments and critical infrastructure at Forcepoint, wrote in an opinion piece published Monday on Fifth Domain that the security of the defense industrial base begins with people.

Kamis said companies working with the Department of Defense should have a system in place that could help track the behavioral patterns of users.

“Being able to detect a change in human patterns … can help suppliers prevent unauthorized access to information and systems. It’s an added layer that can help the supply chain remain clean and less susceptible to vulnerabilities,” he noted.

Behavioral analysis could enable companies to protect controlled unclassified information, he said.

Kamis also discussed DoD’s “Deliver Uncompromised” security program and how its supports the “security-by-design” concept.

“Deliver Uncompromised warns against doing the bare minimum when it comes to security. Indeed, it elevates security as a ‘4th pillar’ of the acquisition process, making it equivalent to cost, schedule and performance,” he added.
