Duke Energy Progress has received a $58.9M task order to implement four energy conservation measures at a U.S. Marine Corps installation located in North Carolina.
The company will update the supervisory control and data acquisition system for water and wastewater systems at Camp Lejeune, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Work will also involve converting the base's lift station to a gravity flow, installing LED lighting equipment and implement updates to motor, disinfection bulb and sludge mixing components of the site's wastewater treatment process.
USMC will obligate $4M in fiscal 2019 operations and maintenance funds at the time of award.Â
The Navy agreed to shoulder the remaining costs of construction and services from a project financing transaction with Duke Energy Progress.
DoD said federal law allows agencies to use appropriations, private financing or both in efforts to comply with the utility energy service contracting requirements.
The Pentagon expects the project to conclude by August 2021.
