Honeywell will provide a satellite communications system for U.S. military transport aircraft as part of the Department of Defense-managed Fixed Installation Satellite Antenna program.
Honeywell said Monday its Ku-band JetWave system is designed to work with Inmarsat's Global Xpress satellite network to provide global connectivity for the U.S. Air Force's C-17 Globemaster III planes.
Booz Allen Hamilton serves as the prime contractor of the program, which runs through 2021.
Steve Hadden, senior director of defense connectivity at Honeywell Aerospace, said JetWave offers bandwidth needed to facilitate communications between multiple users in the battefield.
Honeywell aims to deliver 10 units of its beyond-line-of-sight system by next month.
