Dan Schultz, president of Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky subsidiary, told Defense One in an interview published Thursday about several helicopter projects including a potential $1.1B contract with the U.S. Marine Corps to build 12 CH-53K King Stallion helicopters.
The contract “is a big deal for us here in Connecticut. It fills our factory and it’s a real commitment from the Marines,†Schultz said.
He mentioned some of the issues faced by Sikorsky with regard to the CH-53K program and offered updates on the VH-92 presidential helicopter.
Other aircraft programs discussed by Schultz are the SB>1 Defiant helicopter program with Boeing; the U.S. Air Force’s HH-60W combat rescue helicopter; and a new attack helicopter for the U.S. Army.
