Huntington Ingalls Industries has officially transferred custody of the U.S. Coast Guard’s latest National Security Cutter that is scheduled for commissioning later this year.
NSC Midgett, also known as WMSL 757, is the eighth Legend-class vessel HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division built for the service branch and is named after members of a family whose members have served in USCG, the company said Wednesday.
Ingalls is scheduled to deliver the ninth vessel, Stone, sometime in 2020. The division received a pair of contracts worth $930.9M combined to build the 10th and 11th NSCs.
Legend-class ships are designed with technology platforms that help USCG conduct maritime homeland security, national defense, marine safety, law enforcement and environmental protection missions.
