The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has signed a multiyear license agreement with MarkLogic to continue using a company-made database technology as part of cloud migration efforts at the agency.

MarkLogic said Tuesday it will provide the firm's platform as the agency aims to create and deploy cloud-based applications.

CMS may utilize the database for healthcare programs covered by the Affordable Care Act.

“As the healthcare industry becomes more integrated, with ever more links among industry stakeholders, MarkLogic provides the platform and approach to make data more accessible to all," said Gary Bloom, CEO at MarkLogic.

The company helped CMS implement the federally run health insurance marketplace and coordinate multiple data points from the public and private sectors.
