Charles River Analytics has secured a two-year, $1M contract from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command to develop a screen-based simulator for the Deparment of Defense to train warfighters in medical care and logistics.
The Extensible Field and Evacuation Care Training in a Virtual Environment platform is designed to simulate military medical decision-making scenarios and automatically evaluate the performance of trainees based on the Methodology for Annotating Skill Trees framework, the company said Tuesday.
“The Department of Defense recognizes the need for training systems that prepare personnel in the military medical operation to perform their roles in severely degraded, prolonged field and en-route care settings,†said Benjamin Bauchwitz, principal investigator for the EFECTIVE project and a scientist at Charles River Analytics.
Development of the medical simulation technology would expand the company's training and healthcare support offerings.
