The U.S. Air Force has issued a request for information seeking ways to reduce the financial expenses involved in the development of spacecraft.

The RFI posted Wednesday on FedBizOpps calls on industry to propose automation tools and low-cost designs, materials and manufacturing processes for spacecraft bus and payload assembly and integration.

Proposals should focus on  technologies and processes that could help cut expenses, labor and delivery time while increasing yield and availability of spacecraft, the Air Force said.

Interested parties can submit responses to the RFI through July 1.
