AeroVironment has established an office that will focus on developing robotic and autonomous platforms to complement the firm's portfolio of small unmanned aircraft systems.
Tom Vaneck, former vice president of Physical Sciences' InstantEye Robotics business, will serve as vice president and managing director of the New England Innovation Center, AeroVironment said Tuesday.
He previously managed Aurora Flight Sciences’ Cambridge Research and Development Center and led overall R&D activities at the unmanned system developer.
NEIC is AeroVironment's first engineering operation outside of Califonia, the company noted.
The company will host a recruitment event on Wednesday at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International's Xponential trade show in Chicago.
