VT Halter Marine Coating Facility Promotes Eco-Friendly Process; Tom Vecchiolla Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The shipbuilding business of VT Systems incorporates environmentally responsible business practices and modern technologies into marine construction efforts at a blast and paint facility located in Pascagoula, Miss., MarineLink reported Friday.

VT Halter Marine opened the facility in April 2018 and started full operation in October. A few months after the facility’s opening, the shipbuilder secured multiple contracts and is now 100 percent booked to the end of July 2019.

“Halter Marine’s new state-of-the-art blast and paint facility is part of our continued commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of our most valuable asset — our people,” Tom Vecchiolla, president and CEO of VT Systems, told ExecutiveBiz.

The facility completed blasting and coating work on the hull structure of a 120-foot tugboat weighing 440 tons.

Timothy Pryor, a marine facilities and structural engineer at VT Halter’s Pascagoula yard, said the facility is built to withstand harsh weather conditions and help protect the environment by recycling materials and reducing particulate matter emission.
