Techstars will select companies to join a three-month accelerator program jointly launched with Starburst to support space-based national security efforts, Politico reported Friday.
Matt Koslov, a managing director at Techstars, said the company will recruit and mentor participants in the Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator initiative through daily meetings, whiteboarding strategies and fundraising sessions.
He added that the company looks to incorporate non-space capabilities such as power generation, battery technology, fuel cell and artificial intelligence into the program.
The accelerator is sponsored by the U.S. Air Force, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Maxar Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Science Applications International Corp. and Israel Aerospace Industries' North American arm.
Techstars will announce qualified applicants for the program in July.
