Satellite firm Spire Global has launched its 100th Lemur CubeSat for a mission with India’s space research organization.
The company said Monday its four newly launched Lemur units took off onboard India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. The event also marks the 37th Lemur launched with the help of CubeSat deployment firm NanoRacks.
“Nanoracks launched our very first prototypes several years ago, so it’s fitting that they launch our 100th Lemur satellite into space,” said Jenny Barna, director of launch at Spire.
The Lemur CubeSats function to monitor weather, aircraft and ships in the world’s more remote regions via data and analytics.
Spire aims to leverage these satellites and industry expertise to help global customers access space data.
