Noblis has received a patent for a technology that works to analyze single nucleotide polymorphisms and genomic sequence data.
The patented system serves as the foundation of Noblis' DNA alignment tool, which employs a hashing algorithm designed to index nucleotides across multiple references and align read files, the company said Wednesday.
“Bioinformatics research will continue to play a major role in ensuring food safety, preventing disease and reducing the threat of biological warfare,†said Sterling Thomas, chief scientist of Noblis’ defense and homeland security unit.
Thomas added the company intends to invest research-and-development efforts to advance the emerging technology area.
