BAE Systems has unveiled a new addition to its integrated vehicle protection system suite that offers increased visibility, situational awareness, threat warning and countermeasures to military armored vehicles and crews.

The new 360 Multifunction Vehicle Protection Sensor is designed to provide operators with clear images of the battlespace, along with expanded detection and tracking of threats, including ground troops, aerial systems, improvised explosive devices and missiles, the company said Monday.

The sensor is equipped with four high-definition, extended-view multifunction cameras that provide 360-degree visibility and threat warning capabilities to vehicles even in adverse weather.

“Our approach is different. We’re using mature, integrated components to provide a modular and affordable system for protecting armored vehicles that’s tailorable to the platform, mission and budget,” said Ryan Edwards, business development manager for soldier and vehicle electronics at BAE Systems.

The 360 MVP Sensor can be integrated with kinetic and non-kinetic countermeasures, including BAE Systems’ RAVEN technology.
