MDA Issues Broad Agency Announcement for Ballistic Missile Defense R&D - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Missile Defense Agency is seeking white papers for applied research and advanced technology development services focused on enhancing the U.S. military’s ballistic missile defense system.

MDA said in the broad agency announcement posted Tuesday on FedBizOpps it aims to build new BMDS capabilities such as sensors, kinetic energy systems, directed energy systems, battle management and command control elements to deter missiles at all ranges.

“MDA efforts are focused on making the BMDS more robust against the widening threats and increasing capabilities to handle a broad range of unknown missiles, warheads, trajectories, flight paths and adversaries,” the agency said in the BAA announcement. “MDA must have the ability to detect, track, plan and task, engage and assess the missile defense.”

White papers should focus on the areas of radar and radio frequency communication systems, electro-optical/infrared sensors, directed energy, signal and data processing, interceptor and space systems, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence, big data and international BMDS cooperation.

MDA looks to award multiple contracts under the BAA for research and development services.

Interested parties can submit white papers through April 1, 2021. The agency plans to release the final request for proposals in October of the same year.
